| weekend's over folks.
it wasn't a restful one, but it was good. The night of missions was really good. Of course, there were a couple glitches, but all in all it was good. Here's how I determine this: students remarked to some people here on base that this weekend changed them, that God was real, and that they felt new direction in their lives. That my friends, is good.
Daniel Bedingfield (yes, the singer/songwriter and Natasha's brother) was the speaker for the DTS this weekend. I sat in on Sunday, and my expectations were surpassed. I don't even think I have space to explain it all, but God started something in me.
...which leads me to my next topic... I often wonder why it seemed that I saw God do things more on outreach. I honestly don't think God was in fact doing more, but that I was just more aware to it. This week I've started journaling more. Even when I don't feel like it, I'm trying to make a habit of it everyday. I know it kind of sounds silly, but it really helps me. I find when I write out stuff, I realize just how much God is really doing in and around me. I need to notice God in the oh so small things of life too.

| "Art can, for moments and sometimes even hours at a time, transport us into the middle of other people’s lives."
This weekend we ( the mobilization team, meaning Jason and I) are hosting what is being called "A Night of Missions." It sounds a whole lot more exciting than it is really. Basically there's a youth group stopping here before they head off to Mexico on a missions trip, so we are giving them a missions overview. While Jason takes care of most of the business side of things, I am the creative mind. We are doing 3 monologues from around the world. There's a trafficked girl, an honor killing, and a girl who feels just flat out ugly. The saddest thing about these stories, is the fact that we didn't have to be creative geniuses to write them. We wrote about true stories, some are people we know. In writing these we decided first off that we did not want them to include anything about God. I know, I know, that almost sounds un-christian. The last thing we wanted though was the 5 minute fix of "and then Jesus made everything better," because, honestly, that's not a lot of peoples story. God's ultimate plan for this world was in creating us. YOU ARE THE PLAN. That's our challenge for this weekend, don't just take God to people, be Jesus to them.
If you think about it pray for the students this weekend. We don't want a program that's simply about awareness. The goal is compassion...real compassion, which means to literally get underneath someone's skin and feel what their feeling. We want action.
